Francesca Coli, a post-doc researcher at the @AgLaw Research Group of the Sant’Anna School, together with Carmen Bullon, Legal Officer at FAO, has published a Research Question in the journal Research Directions: One Health by Cambridge University Press.

“How can governance mechanisms, policies and legislation effectively support the implementation of a One Health approach to managing complex health threats (including the health of the environment) at the global, regional and national levels?”

This question opens the debate on how governance systems, policies, and legislation can integrate the #OneHealth approach into legal frameworks at international, regional, and national levels, addressing the complex challenges of global sustainability. The authors invite, among other things, to:

  • Explore the role of governance and legislation in implementing the One Health approach.
  • Identify legal mechanisms for the implementation of One Health within international, regional, and national legislative frameworks.
  • Analyze the conceptual framing of One Health within existing legal principles.
  • Examine potential legal obligations, both substantive and procedural, for state and non-state actors arising from the adoption of the One Health approach.

The goal is to foster legal debate on One Health and promote an international network of scholars and experts.
